From 2006 to 2010, during my mid to late 20s, I embarked on an unexpected and transformative career as an electrician and solar power installer. With no prior experience in electricity or construction, I started as an apprentice, working under the guidance of the company’s most skilled installer. Six months later, when he left to start his own business, I stepped into his role, taking on his truck, his projects, and the responsibility of leading installations.

Rising quickly, I became a lead installer, earning certifications that set me apart in the growing solar industry. I achieved SunPower manufacturer certification and passed the rigorous Connecticut PV-2 licensing exam, making me one of the few electricians in the state licensed specifically for solar electricity at the time.

In those years, I installed one system per week—a significant accomplishment in an industry that was still evolving. It was a different world for solar energy back then, with fewer resources and less public awareness, but I embraced the challenge of being at the forefront of renewable energy.

The slideshow below captures the highlights of this pivotal chapter in my life, showcasing the work, innovation, and dedication that went into each installation. I also wrote extensively about how to install photovoltaic systems, and taught power estimation to students on the middle and high school level.
