On the Future of Videogames and Humanity

"I need to find The Googan."
"But why? You know that the Googan doesn't talk to anyone. Can't be wasting his time, know what I mean?"

"The reason is that i firmly believe that the new videogames are potentially dangerous to the future."

"Huh?"

"Yeah, I guess I'm just one of those freaks but I really think that the development of videogames into first person shooting games could potentially be dangerous for the future of humanity!"

"You've got to be kidding."

"No, seriously. Think about it. All of thse people have had subconsicously embedded memories of running around killing. Maybe it could be one way to avert the possibility of seeing them out there."

"You know that those inclinations are just a part of human nature."

"Not necessarily. It might not be inside of the mind of everyone to want to destroy. Maybe that's the kind of thing that only some people think."

"You can look at it a few different ways," says the mastermind, "Either the games entertain an element of excitement that intrigues the mind of the game player. Or they encourage violent behavior," you say.

"Well yes. We know that some games actually can sharpen intelligence and inprove hand-eye coordination."

"But in Pac Man you're just wandering around collecting dots, watching out for those ghosts."

"Alot like in those Phiction Episodes. Ever play them?"

"Nay, too busy living them."

"Well there's alot more at stake out here in the real world. Life is a philosophical argument, and some philosophies believe that to win the argument is to have a satisfying existence. I personally don't believe there's a point to argumentative conversation."

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I had no intention of arguing with you."

"On the contrary. I think that we are in agreement of alot of the same things. We both believe that the old videogames may lead to a more peaceful future. And your mission seems to be to find Googan, is that correct?"

"Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm trying to do."

"Well the purpose of your finding Googan must also be explained, in as much as where he is, in the first place. Your mission is to design a new wave of old school videogames, to draw attention away from violent ones, and make the world a safer place."

"Do you believe that just by my actions alone, we may all live in a more peaceful future?"

"Let me explain it this way. If you succeed, we all succeed. Does that make sense? And in fact, you are only a piece in a larger puzzle.
