To fund a party the following week, a handful of sorority girls stood outside Merwin's Framing shop on York Street at 1 in the morning, selling baked goods. The proceeds, they said, would allow them to throw a massive birthday party for a friend, whose 21st is coming up.

Complete with folding table and home made cupcakes (the name for which derives from the ability to fit a cake in a cup), the girls stood out there diligently asking passers-by to purchase any of the items on the table for a dollar, possibly influenced by the market standards on york street which have been set by the Flower Lady, Annette Walton.
