Flower Lady: Marketing Genius

The Flowerlady, as many new haven residents have become familiar, is a woman who sells flowers on the corner. It sounds like something ordinary, but several factors have led her to become one of New Haven's most recognizable individuals.

For one thing, she's there every day. Even when it's freezing cold, she's still sitting outside, selling flowers. Five minutes after it rains, she's there.

The other factor is that she has found some way to get her voice to carry over the distance of one city block, over the sound of traffic.

Another reason flowerlady carries a certain amount of notoriety is because of her colloquial catch-phrases that have become a staple in many city residents' auditory diet.

The flowers she sells? Well, nobody's really sure where she gets them from. How much money does she make? I bet it varies greatly on a day to day basis.

The legitimacy of her enterprise is founded on her legal "street vendor" pass, and her ability to exist harmoniously with current social settings. She's a very nice person. Below is her legal permit to sell flowers. It hasn't expired or anything. She's not allowed to sell fireworks.
