Jethro Tull.

Ian Applegate writes:
It's no coincidence that my name is Ian, and the name of this band is Jethro Tull. As the story goes, they would play bars and clubs under different names every time they played. And that's the one that they happened to have the night they signed a deal. I guess the real Jethro Tull was something of a farmer. I'm not sure, though; go look it up.

If you want to understand Woodbridge/Bethany the way I do, go listen to This Was. and if you have any appreciation for the old County Fairs (Guilford, for example), then go and get yourself a copy of Living In the Past. If you live nearby but don't actually attend Yale, listen to Thick As A Brick.

My parents really did name me after the core member, Ian Anderson. And they really did encourage me to play the same intstruments he did.
So, go figure.
