Bike Season is Back
Two Wheels Make a Comeback
New from the local scene and it just don't stop...

Now, you can't even really say that it's because it's too cold out. In a city as accessible as New Haven, it's a surprise that anyone who lives in town actually drives a car. While having a car for trips out of town is probably necessary, most distances within town are reachable in a time that is comparible to that which it takes in a motorized vehicle.

Edgewood Park is a good place to bike. There's actually a lot of really good places to ride, with or without the vertical aspect of transition ramps. Trails and public parks are all over New Haven.

Nowadays, college students and even college graduates organize bike rides with friends as a means of recreational entertainment. Local bike shops like The Devil's Gear host bike tours through the festival of Arts and Ideas, as well as Citywide Open Studios.

Bike lanes have been integrated into traffic design. The more prominent bike lane routes are down Orange Street in the East Rock neighborhood, and Yale Avenue in Westville.

So if you're in a car, and you see a kid on a bike, don't honk. It's just going to scare the crap out of the bike rider. Take some responsibility for the fact that you're driving a two ton pile of metal, and slow down for a bicycle rider.

And if you want to see New Haven the real way, go get yourself something to pedal and see it the good way!
