back to news Method Man: Carrying a Tune
But can the crowd carry you?
Crowd Surfing

This was the best concert that i've been to in a while. Method Man got on stage with the Wu Tang Clan only months ago (Feb 7), and came back to New Haven to perform solo. Even as an individual artist, only an eigth of the entire Wu Tang group, he brought more than 3/4 the crowd, and raised the ante in stage performance.

Citing problems with industry exec's such as the editor of XXL magazine, he got the crowd to chant (f**k [insert name of magazine editor]), so that he could record it and send it to beforementioned person.

Kicking mass quantities of rhymes, including some that were orignally performed only by the late "Old Dirty Bastard," Method Man did showcase both lyrical skills, as well as crowd participation activities, such as the all-popular "sing along" or "do redman's part in this one," theme.

See "action" section for mpg clip of crowd surfing!

Method Man could not stop himself from crowd surfing, something that in all of my attendance of shows, no performer has ever done as much. In one stunt, he successfully attempted to take five steps into the crowd, standing on people's hands who held him up. All and all, for someone who debuted more than ten years ago, Method Man still shows that while we hold him high above our heads, it's we who are standing on the shoulders of giants.
