Whitney Ave. There's a guy who holds up a picture of a mangled fetus outside of Planned Parenthood almost everyday. According to free speech, he can do what he wants. Why does he stand out there? He says that he has an obligation to save the lives of innocent people. The debate is one that leads to many various different perspectives on the issue. |
In the world that we all actually exist in, abortions are legal just like this guy has a right to wave signs and pass out literature. Physiologically and theoretically, life starts at conception, and consciousness doesn't always justify killing. Sleeping and unconscious people would just be theoretically easier to kill, and the only justification for abortion is to prevent children from being born into families that would be inconvenienced by their existence. It doesn't justify the avoidable circumstances that cause babies from being born in the first place. But casual sex, and perhaps all sex without the intent of procreation, isn't going out of style at all. It's a cold, cruel world we live in. One which a guy like this is treated like an inconvenience, where he treats people going to planned parenthood like they're some kind of devil-worshipping cult, and where babies are born into a world that can't give the support they need; one that might sooner destroy a life than give it a chance. So that's why we have this guy freezing his nuts off, outside waving signs with pictures of bloody fetuses on them. |
