Stayin Up On It.

New Haven Street Artists don't stop at nothing to prevailing the proliferation of urban landscape customization.

The custom landscape is an asset to any urbanized area. Otherwise it's about as plain and cold as your commonplace textbook. Here's another example: did you ever buy a used textbook? It's not as perfect, aesthetically, as a brand new textbook. But for one thing, it didn't cost as much. And there's probably a little bit more information. Maybe a cartoon drawn by the books' previous owner. That's why street art is kind of important. It's a cool part of our world, to see things that have been put there for what apparently seems like little to no reason at all. In the mind of a street artist, the purpose is to exist, and to extend the very nature of existence by the persuit of unused public space.

Many street artists are in it for the fame. Some do it because they see the opportunity to make something beautiful out of something bland or commonplace. Roll Deep did it because it was funny.

See it on the streets, photo it, send it. We'll post it. Ongoing log of street art. Townofnewhaven.org
