Pan's Labyrinth

This movie says much about the nature of how some human beings contain the supernatural ability to foreshadow their own deaths, I think.

Does the girl go to heaven and become a princess? Or does she die? The issue is poignantly addressed at the end of this movie: is heaven a construction of the mind? Do we invent heaven as a place to go when we die?

This is something that I think about every once in a while. Our consciousness drifts into other planes when we're asleep. Imagine what it does when we're deceased?

What also interested me about this movie was the obscure line between what really was happening, and what the little girl was imagining. Even if the faun and her mission was all just a fabrication, perhaps it was only meant to be seen by the girl, just as her fate was also hers alone.
