A very strange thing happened the other day. A freestyle "battle" including only two opponents, intermitted by a five-track solo performance by a "host," nominated to be the most promising new artist at the VMA's (???!!!), an MC named "prolifik."

There are hopes that these sort of contests will be more open to the public so that anyone can sign up for it. Otherwise it was fun and I deejayed. I have hopes that next time I write about this event, I'll have something positive to say.

Oh. This was kind of funny. The MC named "Prolifik" did an entire verse to a song about how if his sneakers have one speck of dirt on them, he just gets rid of them and buys a new pair. This compelled me to grab the mic after his song and i did my very best Ali G impersonation, saying "Big ups yourself" at least half a dozen times, "big ups" to everyone in the room, and then i told Prolifik that if he had any sneakers he didn't want to wear anymore, he could give them to me.
