News Articles, February 2007:

Boom!
I didn't have pics (but you did!) (but i was there!)

The coliseum finally went crashing down on January 20th.

It was the arcitectural Jesus Christ of our generation. It was built up with expectations of greatness. The people who first backed it eventually were the ones who betrayed it. It was built for monster trucks, stadium rock, and pro wrestling. The insatiable urge to see great things. And for that, the New Haven Coliseum payed the ultimate price.

There were more people at the demolition of the coliseum than any coliseum event. If as many people who came to watch its demolition happened to attend any one coliseum event, it would surpass its capacity. Nonetheless, it was 7 am and freezing January.

Some pics were sent to me from various people: Shawn of Hull's Art Supplies on Chapel Street sent me this. Craig Gilbert, the new chef of Cafe Nine, sent me this pic. Kat, who lives in Westville with her husband Rick (local skate park ramp builder) sent this, as well as the pic in the banner and on the front page. Win Vitkovsky took this photo from in front of woodland cafe. It was used as a background image this month. Stunning!
