Being Green

I don’t grow on trees,
but am the square root of evil
I’m cold and hard,
but legally tender
I’m the bill of the ball,
Dropping pants and pretense
but it’s not easy being green.
I go by
Benjamin, Jackson, Washington
but my real name is fear.
Once you learn it, you’ll see
The gold I spin is only paper.
I’m a foundation built from
origami numbers,
always folding in on itself.
